Are Detox Foot Pads Good?

Detox foot pads are pads which claim to pull toxins out of the body through your feet. They are adhesive pads that stick to the bottom of the feet and claim to absorb toxins over an eight hour period and cleanse the body. We have not been able to find real, scientific evidence or research indicating whether or not they are effective.

We do know that, if you want to remove toxins from your system, it would be better to discover and eliminate the source of those toxins. There are actually toxins in the air you breath and the water you drink,; you encounter several of these environmental toxins everyday. Your body is used to these, and can easily handle the bulk of them, and certainly can handle the most common ones.

Another source of toxins is the food we eat. When the body is bombarded by both environmental toxins, called free radicles, and toxins from the food we eat that come in the form of pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, presevatives, and other substances, the dual burden can be too much for it. On the other hand, one of the very ways your body can heal itself from its environment and other toxins, is through antioxidants, which can also enter your body through food.

The bottom line is, what you eat can make a big difference in how toxic your body is or becomes. When you make the right food choices, you detoxify your body; when you make the wrong ones, you cause your body to become more toxic.

Detox foot pads, even if they do pull toxins from your body, do not address the major problem- the thing that is causing your body to become toxic in the first place. You would be better off to save your money and put it towards healthier foods. Healthy foods are those foods that do not contain artificial, refined or homogenized ingredients.

Healthy foods, like raw vegetables, contain antioxidants, like vitamin C, and nutrient boosters. Healthy foods also cleanse your body and restore the systems, like the lungs, liver, and kidneys, which help to filter toxins through the body. As we said before, the body can handle environmental toxins, as long as it is clean and healthy, and not overburdened, and undernourished.

Instead of buying detox foot pads, why don’t you take an opportunity to learn about the kinds of foods that are harmful, and why they are harmful. Learn about your body’s natural ability to cleanse itself, and about the foods that can help you detox and stay detoxed. Investing in good, healthy food is the best thing you can do for yourself.
