There are lots of foods you can eat during a detox to help your body flush away toxins. Everyone knows that drinking plenty of water and other liquids is absolutely essential, but so is getting plenty of fruits and vegetables into your diet.

Dark leafy greens, berries, lemons, and limes are some of the most powerful foods to eat during detox.

Dark leafy greens include most herbs, especially parsley, basil and cilantro, all of which can be found fresh at the grocery store. They also include spinach, kale, mustard greens, and red leaf lettuce. Eating a lot of these every day is going to boost your detox power. For an added boost, take a barley grass supplement. All of these plants can be easily juiced also.

Berries are major sources of antioxidants, and will fight toxins and free radicals. It is almost always possible to find some kind of berry in season. Cranberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and a host of others can be found. They should almost always be bought organic, and the frozen kind, while not as desirable, aren’t a bad choice. Buying them dried, however, is more difficult. Almost all dried fruit has sugar and/or preservatives added unless they are certified organic.

Lemons and limes are great foods to eat during detox because they pack a lot of vitamin C without a lot of sugar.

Their tart flavor can be used to enhance vegetables, salads, or fruit medleys. They can also be sliced and added directly to your water for a boost in flavor, hydration, and more antioxidants. Best of all, for those doing a Candida Cleanse, these are two of the only fruits that aren’t off limits.

Avocado is another fruit which can be eaten during a Candida cleanse, and should be mentioned as an excellent detox food, as well. It contains beneficial fats and is a great natural source of vitamin E. Other fruits that must be mentioned include papaya, mango and cantaloupe, all of which are powerful foods to eat during detox.

During a detox, stay away from packaged foods and look for colorful, natural foods which pack plenty of nutrients and fiber into every bite. Don’t be afraid to juice your vegetables, and make sure you drink enough water every day. Most of all, enjoy the health and energy you are acquiring from eating a whole-foods diet. Health is something you should prioritize. Really, the foods to eat during detox are the foods you should be eating every day!
