How To End Chronic Constipation Holistically
Chronic constipation is a real problem. When you don’t properly eliminate, you are damaging your health, your appearance, and your mood. Some of the symptoms of constipation? Pasty skin, fatigue, and restless sleep.
Chronic constipation can be caused by stress, diet, and lack of exercise. To cure chronic constipation, all of these causes must be addressed. The good news is, sometimes, taking care of one problem, will give you the will and energy to address the other two.
Because eating well and cleansing is what we are all about, we want to teach you how to address dietary factors that are making you constipated, tired and restless. Remember, when you don’t exercise or get enough sleep, your stress levels increase, but if your diet is making you too tired to exercise, there is no way your going to be able to use physical activity to get back into shape.
Still, take a walk each night after dinner, five days a week, and stay away from these colon-plugging foods:
Refined white flour: White flour is stripped of the beneficial fiber that makes it an okay, nutritious thing to eat. To test this, add a liquid to white flour. Notice how it becomes sticky and gooey? That is why bakers love white flour, it’s sticky and binds together well.
But it also sticks to your bowels.
If you wonder why you have problems with constipation, just imagine a bunch of half-decayed white flour dough stuck to your digestive tract. Suddenly, you will understand.
Refined white sugar: Let’s face it, you already know this stuff is bad for you. Refined white sugar has no nutritional value. It supplies calories for your brain to run on, maybe, but those calories come at a high cost to your health.
Don’t think artificial sweeteners are the answer either, these are chemicals that seriously tax your liver and other organs. They are dangerous.
Red meat: In high quantities red meat is very bad for your digestive tract. It is difficult for your body to digest and pass and putrefies in the colon. Limit your red meat intake to once or twice a month.
Dairy: Dairy is very bad for you. Even if you are eating organic dairy, and not getting the nasty puss and chemicals, dairy is mucus-forming, allergen forming, and difficult for your body to handle. Sticky mucus caused by dairy can only further exasperate your already stressed digestive system. Don’t do it.
Now you know some foods to avoid. Do you feel like you aren’t sure what to eat? There are plenty of healthy options for your diet. Have a question
Is brown sugar bad for me?
I prefer natural forms of sugar (ie. brown sugar) than artificial sweeteners. At least, your body can recognize it. However, only small amounts please.
I heard you say dairy is bad for you. I like to eat 1/2 cup cottage cheese almost daily for the high protein content. Comments?
Zee, if your body feels ok after eating the cottage cheese then go for it. However, it’s not something that I eat every day just because it is more acidic. At the very least, balance it out with plenty of fruits and veg throughout the day.
Constipation has a devastating effect on the entire body.
A glass of water kept overnight in a copper vessel to be had after you wakeup in the morning helps in flushing out the poop and activating the bowels. I am doing so for the past 25 odd years.
Try it you will find a drastic change within a week and ultimately rid yourself of constipation over a
period of time.
Thanks Yuri, your articles are very informative and helpful for the well being of the body, mind and soul.
hi yuri, what is thinking on colonics and enemas for cleansing purposes? I am reading a book on raw food detox and they argue that these are vital to success.
I don’t agree. If you eat well you should become “regular” with time. The best type of colonic is from the mouth-down, not the other way around.
What about stevia as a sweetner?? What do you use for a sweetner in place of sugar and the splenda types of products?
Stevia is perfectly fine. So too is xylitol. I wouldn’t use splenda.
