Liver Cleansing Detox Diet
A liver cleansing detox diet should be a 30-day program designed to make your liver healthy again.
The liver is an important detox organ, but it becomes overwhelmed by toxins coming in through food, sugary drinks, and alcohol. When you feel sluggish, irritable, and like you can’t lose weight, a liver cleanse is right for you.
The liver cleansing detox diet is very simple and easy to follow because it doesn’t require tonics or strange ingredients.
There are teas available for this purpose which are helpful but not necessary. All you need are natural foods, which can be found inside your normal grocery store!
When following a good liver cleansing detox diet menu you should really to stop drinking caffeinated beverages, sugary drinks and alcohol for the full month. You will also want to avoid foods that are processed or refined, sweetened, or full of salt and preservatives. These are all the things which make your liver sick in the first place.
Along with herbal tea, your main food during the liver cleansing detox diet will be raw fruits and vegetables. Berries are extraordinarily good for liver cleansing and make a better breakfast food then just about anything. All fruits have their place, however. Bananas are good in moderation, but eating more than 1 or two in a two week period is not recommended, since bananas can overload the liver.
Fruits with high water content, like apples, cantaloupe, pineapple, oranges and honey dew melon are also going to help flush out toxins during a liver cleansing detox diet, but you want to be careful that your diet is not fruit-only. It is important to include fresh leafy greens like spinach and kale in a liver cleansing detox diet because their phytonutrients are great for regenerating liver cells and cleansing the blood and colon to allow toxins to move out of the body.
Other wonderful vegetables to include in your liver cleansing detox diet are organic carrots, celery, and garlic.
Juicing any or all of the listed vegetables together is a perfect way to deliver a ton of wonderful nutrients and cleansing liquids directly to your liver. If you don’t have a juicer, you can make a smoothie instead by adding in a little bit of apple juice, which will also help with flavor.
A smaller portion of your liver cleansing detox diet can be made up of raw nuts and seeds, non-glutenous grains, and a small amount of lean fish or chicken, -if you wish to eat meat. Meat should be limited and eaten in very small portions. Nuts and seeds can include pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts, or pecans. Non-glutenous grains include things like quinoa, amaranth and millet.
After 30 days on the liver cleansing detox diet, your liver will be good as new (well, depending on your starting toxicity level!) Your colon will cleanse itself, as will your blood. Your body will also have eliminated a lot of dead tissue and unwanted growths and parasites. Your job is to continue to eat relatively well, and to not go back to a diet full of processed or sweet foods, and too much caffeine.
Make whole foods the majority of what you eat daily, and not just on a liver cleansing detox diet, and your body will stay detoxed and healthy for life!
