What to Eat After a Cleanse

After a cleanse, it would be silly to go back to the way you were eating before, unless, of course, you were already eating healthy, whole foods. Most of those who do a cleanse, however, decide to cleanse because they realize that the way they eat is causing their bodies to become toxic, and they want to get away from those habits and help their bodies heal. That means that they are looking for a long term solution to their poor eating habits.

If you are like the majority of first time detox dieters, you wanted to break your bad food habits, and get healthy again for good. So, if you want to maintain your results and feel better, it is important that you don’t just go back to eating the way your did before. You want to proceed with a nice, healthy diet so you can feel better for life.

The easiest way to stay healthy, is to avoid foods you know are not good for you. Fast food, dairy, refined sugars, caffeine, and processed foods are all known to be bad for your body and hard on your body. These are foods that you want to stay away from for at least a year after you stop a detox.

That doesn’t mean you avoid them for life. When the body is clean, it can easily handle a very occasional ice cream cone. But until then, these foods will throw your body off balance, and aggravate your addiction to problem foods.

Instead, continue to make the majority of your diet, 70% to 80%, raw, whole, natural foods, like fruits and vegetables. Also continue to eat lean protein, nuts, and seeds. Eat only whole grain breads, and eat very little of these, and only eat one cooked meal per day.

It doesn’t matter which meal you choose to eat cooked, but this cooked food should only make up 20% to 30% of your total diet. We recommend making the cooked meal dinner, and the second choice would be lunch. For breakfast and before noon, we recommend raw fruits and juices only.

When you continue to make the majority of your diet raw, natural foods, instead of refined, your body will continue the work of cleansing and healing itself even after the initial cleansing period. On the other hand, if you jump right back to eating the way you did before, you will quickly redo any damage the cleanse may have repaired. Make eating healthy a habit, not a passing phase.
