Is The Master Cleanse Good?

The Master cleanse is a unique colon cleansing program that involves drinking a home made concoction that is designed to stimulate waste removal. The beverage is made up of fresh lemon juice, rich maple syrup, cayenne pepper and purified water. The plan states that you should drink six to twelve glasses of this each day. Whenever you are hungry. The plan also recommends that you take a laxative in the morning and evening. The idea behind The Master Cleanse is that a person will overcome their need to eat and gain self control by drinking this beverage in place of food.

Reviews of consumers that have tried the Master Cleanse diet feel that it is beneficial. Many have reported weight loss of up to fifteen pounds. Some reported an increase in mental clarity and less irritability. Others reported a decrease in fatigue. Many claimed that after completing the diet plan they felt more will power against emotional eating. There are many blogs and forums devoted to this cleansing program. However, it should be remembered the master cleanse is not a sustainable approach to cleansing. It’s a quick fix solution that doesn’t empower you to make healthier choices in the long run. In most cases, people go back to eating the way they did before the cleanse.

The master cleanse program is divided into three easy phases. The first phase is “Ease-In.” During this pre-diet phase a person is designed to help your body and mind prepare to eat less food. This phase lasts for approximately three days. In some cases, people recommend starting with a  raw food diet, a green diet, or a vegetarian diet. This will prepare you to embark on a new post-cleanse, food lifestyle. The second phase is the Lemonade Diet.

This involves drinking the concoction for a few days. While doing this you will notice an increase in bowel movements. Your body will instantly begin to feel more energized. This process allows your body to release toxins, chemicals and waste that are built up inside of the tissues and cells. Authorities say that the laxative is important to take day and night because it promotes bowel movements, however, this is only a temporary stimulus to produce unnatural bowel movements.

Due to the lack of fiber during the second phase, your body will not produce adequate bowel movements without promotion. The diet also recommends that you drink an excessive amount of water each day. This will aid in flushing the toxins from your body. Ideally you should drink at least half your body weight in ounces each day. This means that if you weigh 140 pounds then you should drink at least 70 ounces of water. It is recommended that you carry a 1 liter water bottle with you at all times. The final phase is called the “Ease- out” phase. This is the same as the first phase but in reverse. You will slowly reintroduce food into your diet over the course of 3 days. This process is ideal for choosing your new healthy diet plan.

It is recommended that people utilizing the Master Cleanse diet plan take fiber pills and drink ample amounts of water to induce bowel movements. Most people agree that the Master Cleanse is a quick and easy way to cleanse your body and lose weight but is it really? What’s the point of following an extreme cleansing diet for 10 days if you’re just going to revert to how you ate before? There are better detox diets if you ask me.
