Cleansing vs. Dieting: Which is Better?

Are you wondering what the difference between cleansing and dieting is? One is a complete approach to health, with weight loss as an added benefit, and one focuses on only on weight loss. Cleansing is a complete program, aimed at removing toxins and helping overcome poor eating habits; dieting is a temporary plan aimed at superficial results.

Dieting implies something temporary, not ongoing. When someone talks about being on a diet, they are meaning that, for the time being, they are avoiding sweet foods or fatty foods. In dieting, there is a sense that when the dieter’s weight goals are reached, the diet will end and eating habits will return to their poor norm.

A cleanse is something different entirely. When someone is cleansing, they are preparing their body for a new lifestyle. What follows a cleanse is a new way of thinking and eating that keeps health and vitality at the top of the list all the time.

No, this doesn’t mean that those who have undergone a cleanse never eat another piece of cake. What cleansing does mean is that, once the body is clean and healthy, that feeling will be maintained by a paradigm which puts whole, raw foods first in the diet. Those who have cleansed do occasionally eat sweet or fattening foods, but those foods are not a regular part of their diet, and the occasional consumption of them is balanced by plenty of healthy fruits and vegetables.

Cleansing recognizes once the body is clean and healthy there is no problem handling the occasional toxic foods. It is when the diet is consistently full of refined foods, processed sugars, unhealthy fats and chemical additives that our bodies become overwhelmed. Dieting lacks this recognition, and so is doomed to failure.

If a diet doesn’t address and seek to permanently change your normal eating habits, or if it doesn’t take into account the years of unhealthy eating, the build up of dangerous toxins, or the number of food addictions that have developed in the body over time, it cannot possibly yield healthy, permanent results.

When it comes down to it, the choice between cleansing and dieting should be an easy one. The question is not which one will help you lose weight, but which one will really produce a change in your body and in your life. Cleansing is the only way to be healthier, lose weight and keep it off for good.

A diet is just a diet. It is a temporary fix, if it fixes anything at all. Cleansing, however, addresses the whole problem and gives solutions. Your body, your mind, and your energy levels will all reflect the wisdom of your choice to cleanse and live better.
